Colorado Vacation

The day after school let out the 5 of us packed up our things and flew to Colorado. We had all been looking forward to this vacation for quite a while!

The kids did great on the flight to Denver. We then drove to the Boulder/Longmont area to meet up with Ashley. We had a nice lunch together, then got to see her house. The kids loved playing with her dogs. She took us on a fun hike with great views overlooking the town. The kids actually did really great on this hike. It turned out to be the best one all week. We topped it off with a stop for ice cream, then said our goodbyes and headed for Colorado Springs.

Unfortunately the 2 nights leading up to the trip and the first 2 nights of the trip involved middle-of-the-night sickness which hit 3/5 of us. But besides that we had a really great time. We went on a train ride through an old gold mining town and it was really fun. We thought this would be the most exciting thing ever for Colton but he fell asleep at the end, haha. He did enjoy it though.

We went to the zoo, which had the most beautiful views since it was on the side of the mountain.

We also walked through Garden of the Gods and saw the beautiful red rock formations. This was probably the hottest day and the kids were tired and all wanted to be in the stroller so our little walk didn't last too long.

We went to a Christmas themed amusement park which was perfect for the kids. The rides were mostly all for younger kids so they weren't too scary. Lainey rode a few rides at first but then stopped liking them. Colton and Cambry loved riding everything over and over again. We were there on a week day and it was not crowded at all. It was so nice not having to wait in any lines.

We did another small hike one day, went to a couple of neat playgrounds, and stopped by the Focus on the Family visitor center. Although out of all the things we did I think the kids most enjoyed swimming in the hotel pool and wrestling on the beds. I'm thankful for sweet family memories and a great trip together.
