Colton 3 Months

Size: Based on our scale at home you weigh 15.2 lbs. You have grown out of all of your 0-3 month sleepers and pretty much wear 3-6 month in everything. Your chubby baby legs are the best!! I love all your cute rolls.

Eat: You eat every 2-3 hours during the day, and maybe one 4 hour stretch. You are a great nurser and you take the bottle wonderfully when needed. I am so thankful for this! Cause you know, some babies do not. (Cambry I am looking at you.)

Sleep: When I read the 3 month updates I had written for each of the girls it said they were going down between 7:30 and 8. You definitely do not have a "going down" time and I'm not sure how to make that happen. But I'm sure you will fall into a routine soon enough so I am not worried. Once I go to sleep you usually wake me up once or twice to nurse. After you nurse you usually go right back to sleep. You wake up around 7am for the day.

Likes/Dislikes: You like being held, your car seat, the swing, your paci, people talking to you up close, baths, and your new thing is sucking on your hands. You don't really like tummy time.

Skills: You smile and coo all the time and have found your hands and like to suck on them. Your head and neck are getting stronger. You seem to study objects more, especially the toys hanging from your play mat.

Little boy, you melt our hearts. You are the cutest, sweetest, happiest, baby. We love you so!

Fall 2015 Family Pictures

I realized I never posted our family pictures we had taken back in November. Lovebird Photographie took these and she did an amazing job. We were so happy with how they turned out. During the session I didn't feel like we were getting any good ones since it was nearly impossible to get the girls to look at the camera and smile. But somehow she got many wonderful shots!

Life with 3

Since Colton was born things have been busier, louder, more exhausting, and more fun. Having 3 littles is an exciting adventure.

Yes it is crazy at times.

It takes us 500 minutes to get ready to go anywhere.

Sometimes I am wearing Colton while trying to pick Lainey up off the ground in public because she is having a limp-legs-2-year-old-fit and I am reminding Cambry STAY CLOSE WE ARE IN A PARKING LOT.

But I love having these sweet little ones. And I know it goes by so fast and this season will soon turn into a new season. So I am trying to cherish every moment. I need a lot of coffee right now and I cannot keep the house clean but somehow I still don't want these days to pass.

Here is a collection of random thoughts from life right now:

Laundry has somehow increased exponentially. The hampers fill up in a couple days. And the dishwasher fills up super fast too. I'm not even sure why, since Colton doesn't contribute any dirty dishes except the occasional bottle.

Greg and I can only to talk to each other in 8 second blocks of time. Beyond that, Cambry is telling a continuous story or Colton is fussing or Lainey needs something. Any conversation that requires concentration or consideration has to wait till the kids go to bed.

Fact: If a raisin goes through the washing machine it will come out completely unchanged. Well, maybe cleaner.

When I am getting everyone ready in the morning for preschool drop off it's like a tornado is touching down on our house. When we get back home there is stuff everywhere. Toys are in every room of the house. The pan with crusted scrambled eggs along with all the other breakfast dishes are filling up the sink. Pajamas are strewn everywhere. No one is allowed to see our house at 9:15 am.

I feel like I am hungry, thirsty, and have to pee at all times.

When I am at a store with all 3 I always hear "you've got your hands full!".

There is much more affection around here. The girls need more affection from us and they like to give a lot more affection now too. Especially to Colton. Lainey gives him SO many kisses. Usually she goes directly for the mouth. "Give him a little space please" is a common phrase around here. And sometimes when I nurse Colton the other 2 are drawn to us so it's 4 of us on one couch cushion.

The more kids you have the greater the chances of someone waking up in the middle of the night.

People are like - "So is Colton on a schedule yet?" And I am like "Yeah. He gets interrupted from whatever he is doing promptly at 8:50 am and 12:50 pm for school drop off/pickup, and for all the other errands and appointments we attend. Other than that he is on a strict time table of eating, playing, and sleeping whenever he wants. See? Schedule."

Why can't someone in the human race invent a baby video monitor that works?

I'm too tired to think of anything else and I need to dry my hair and get a snack and go to bed so I can wake up and nurse little man. Goodnight!

2015 in Review

I saw this on another blog and I love the idea. These are our 2015 highlights. I really enjoy looking back on these memories. And it is fun to show my blog to Cambry and talk about the things we have done. Hopefully Lainey and Colton will appreciate this when they get older too.

The Kimmels came to Houston!

I updated our bedroom.

Greg and Cambry went on their first Daddy-Daughter camping trip.

Lainey was the most adorable toddler who made the biggest messes.

I turned Cambry's closet into a play space.

We found out we were expecting baby #3! And that same day found out that my sister was pregnant too!

I felt horribly sick for about 4 months. I ate things like nacho Doritos and tomato soup, I laid on the couch a lot, and I barely took care of our kids.

We found out we were having a boy!!!

We flew to Phoenix to visit the Kimmels. Lauren and I compared our matching baby bumps.

Lainey learned to walk!

Cambry started swim lessons for the first time.

I made it halfway through the pregnancy!

We vacationed with the Mattern family in Red River, New Mexico.

We moved Cambry to a big girl bed and started transforming her room into her and Lainey's shared room.

We vacationed with the Grosses in South Padre Island.

Greg and I went on a babymoon to Austin. It was our first and probably last trip without kids, ha!

Cambry started Preschool.

We finished the girls' shared room and Colton's nursery.

Greg and Cambry went on their second Daddy-Daughter camping trip.

We enjoyed a sweet baby shower from Greg's coworkers.

We visited pumpkin patches, festivals, and enjoyed all the other things fall has to offer.

Greg and I went all out for a Halloween costume party.

We found out I needed to be induced at 38 1/2 weeks! Surprise!

Our nephew, Wesley, was born the day I was induced!

The next day (also Lainey's birthday) Colton Brooks made his debut into the world at a whopping 9 lbs. What a joyful day!

Lainey turned 2!

Colton met his adoring sisters.

We had a fun Halloween.

We snapped some newborn pictures of Colton.

We had professional family pictures taken.

I had so much fun dressing up a baby boy.

We went to Waco for Thanksgiving and Colton met his aunts, uncles, cousins, and great grandma.

We had a birthday party for Cambry at Wonderwild.

Our big girl turned 4!

Colton started smiling.

We had a fun Christmas season going to Christmas parties, Zoo lights, seeing a train display, looking at Christmas lights, and seeing the Christmas show at church. Then we had a wonderful Christmas morning at home with Gigi and Pa.

We went back to Waco and had a great Christmas round 2.

I am so thankful for such a wonderful year. I am excited to see what 2016 holds!
